Yesterday, the heavens gifted us something unforgettable: the simple beauty of things. At The Quiet Hotel in La Moraleja, although the eclipse wasn't directly visible, we experienced the magic in our own way, feeling the golden summer light give way to a soft shadow, as if night had arrived a few minutes early only to suddenly return the sun.
It was an almost mystical moment that transformed the island. At viewpoints, on beaches, and aboard boats of all sizes, people gathered to celebrate a true "New Year's Eve" on August 12th. Lifelong friends, families, and couples shared knowing glances, laughter, and above all, a restorative silence.
There was something profoundly primal and beautiful in the act of pausing to gaze at the infinite together. Admiring the sky, the stars, and the horizon reminded us of the importance of slowing down and remembering why and how humankind has always asked the same questions, and also why humankind invents art, artistic expression, and religions.
We firmly believe that we should sit down more often with our loved ones, reflect, and let the universe dazzle us once again.
